Here’s good news for all Robert Burns’ fans. A new museum dedicated to Robert Burns is now officially open for public. The museum will feature more than 5,000 artefacts, rare editions, personal artefacts and other items connected to this iconic figure. Burn’s fans, students, tourists and researchers can surf through thousands of manuscripts and learn about the passionate works of the Scottish national poet. The very qualities of Robert Burns, like, the national pride, liberal views and quick wit have become synonymous with the Scottish character itself. Unraveling the life of this humble Ayrshire ploughman and how he rose from such simple beginnings to become one of the worlds’s acclaimed and regarded poet is such a pleasure, indeed.
In addition to Burns’ memorabilia the facility also features popular works from leading Scottish artists including Kenny Hunter, Timorous Beasties and Sue Blackwell. Nat Edwards, director of the museum, said the project had been a “real labour of love”. He added, “Our aim is to provide a modern and relevant interpretation of Burns that will intrigue visitors of all ages, whether they are lifelong Burns enthusiasts or completely new to his work”.
The official opening of the museum coincides with the Burns weekend i.e 22 January. Just in case you haven’t noticed you can celebrate Burns night with likeminded bingo buddies at Golden Hat Bingo. We have tagged Mini Roulette game with Burns Night special gift.
